Alamein International University is seeking candidates to fill the following open position in the Field of Advanced Basic Sciences:
Assistant/Associate Professor in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry specialization)
Successful applicants will be responsible for teaching courses, conducting and promoting research, as well as participating in accreditation and administrative work.
Job Information
- Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry (Organic Chemistry specialization).
- Job Location: Alamein International University, New Alamein City, Matrouh Governate
- Job Nature: Full Time
- Working Hours: 9 am-4 pm, 5 days a week
- Contract Duration: One-year contract, renewable based on performance evaluation and university needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 12-15 hours per semester (fall and spring) and 3-5 hours in the summer semester, including preparation, examinations, and accreditation tasks.
- Prepare quality and accreditation files.
- Hold office hours (in-person and/or online) to assist students.
- Manage course content on the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Supervise undergraduate field training.
- Develop research proposals, secure funding, and establish a research group in their area of expertise. (A reduced teaching load may be granted if significant funding is secured)
- Promote the university’s mission of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
- Contribute to community engagement at national and international levels.
- Submit an annual report summarizing teaching, research, and community service achievements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the university administration.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university (Degree granted 2015 or later), specializing in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry).
- M.Sc. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university.
- B.Sc. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university with minimum grade very good.
- Age not more than 45 years old by 1/9/2025.
- Excellent Teaching and research record in chemistry is required.
- Experience not less than three years in university teaching after the PhD degree award.
- Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Canvas.
- Supervised M.Sc.and /or Ph.D thesis.
- Applicants who were Principal Investigator (PI) in a Project that was funded by a governmental entity is preferred.
- Knowledge of accreditation processes.
- Experience in academic advising and mentoring students.
- An outstanding portfolio that includes other experiences related to university functions and activities that may contribute to AIU’s success is a plus.
- Experience in developing new courses.
- Participating in the organization of any conferences, workshops or training sessions is a plus.
- Practical Experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent English skills (both written and spoken).
