Alamein International University is seeking candidates to fill the following open position in the Field of Advanced Basic Sciences:

Assistant/Associate Professor in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry specialization)

Successful applicants will be responsible for teaching courses, conducting and promoting research, as well as participating in accreditation and administrative work.

Job Information

  • Job Title:   Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry (Organic Chemistry specialization).
  • Job Location: Alamein International University, New Alamein City, Matrouh Governate 
  • Job Nature: Full Time
  • Working Hours: 9 am-4 pm, 5 days a week  
  • Contract Duration: One-year contract, renewable based on performance evaluation and university needs. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12-15 hours per semester (fall and spring) and 3-5 hours in the summer semester, including preparation, examinations, and accreditation tasks.
  • Prepare quality and accreditation files.
  • Hold office hours (in-person and/or online) to assist students.
  • Manage course content on the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Supervise undergraduate field training.
  • Develop research proposals, secure funding, and establish a research group in their area of expertise. (A reduced teaching load may be granted if significant funding is secured)
  • Promote the university’s mission of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
  • Contribute to community engagement at national and international levels.
  • Submit an annual report summarizing teaching, research, and community service achievements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the university administration.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university (Degree granted 2015 or later), specializing in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry).
  • M.Sc. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university.
  • B.Sc. in Science (Chemistry) from an accredited university with minimum grade very good.
  • Age not more than 45 years old by 1/9/2025.
  • Excellent Teaching and research record in chemistry is required.
  • Experience not less than three years in university teaching after the PhD degree award.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Canvas.
  • Supervised M.Sc.and /or Ph.D thesis.
  • Applicants who were Principal Investigator (PI) in a Project that was funded by a governmental entity is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes.
  • Experience in academic advising and mentoring students.
  • An outstanding portfolio that includes other experiences related to university functions and activities that may contribute to AIU’s success is a plus.
  • Experience in developing new courses.
  • Participating in the organization of any conferences, workshops or training sessions is a plus.
  • Practical Experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent English skills (both written and spoken).
