Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Essam ElKordi, President of Alamein International University, and Professor Dr. Hesham Gaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and at the kind invitation of Pharos University in Alexandria, Professor Dr. Mohamed Salem Badawy—Professor of Radiation Physics, Radiation Protection Expert, and Director of Academic Programs at the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Alamein International University—delivered an outstanding scientific lecture entitled “The Uses of Radioisotopes and Their Applications in Daily Life.” This lecture was part of the first Scientific Research Day organized by Pharos University in Alexandria on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The lecture was aimed at undergraduate students from various faculties at Pharos University, as well as faculty members and teaching assistants. The scientific gathering witnessed significant engagement and rich, fruitful discussions between the lecturer and attendees. The lecture explored various aspects of radioisotope applications in medical fields—such as their use in medical diagnosis and radiation therapy—as well as in agriculture, industry, and scientific research.
The lecture also included a thorough explanation of radiation safety principles and emphasized the need to adhere to precautionary measures when handling these materials and technologies to ensure the safety of workers in the field and the protection of the environment.
