Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Essam Elkordi – President of Alamein International University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Gaber – Vice President for Academic Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Salem – Director of Academic Programs at the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Basic Sciences organized an educational field visit for students from the Industrial Chemistry Department to the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) in Alexandria Governorate, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
The visit was arranged in coordination with the company’s Training Unit, represented by Chemist Hesham Riad – Chairman and Managing Director, Chemist Hassan Toto – General Manager of Training, and Ms. Maha Saeed – Director of the Training Department. A rich and comprehensive program was prepared for the students with the aim of enhancing their theoretical knowledge through a direct practical experience of the production mechanisms of ethylene and its derivatives.
The visit was accompanied by Teaching Assistant Menna Allah Mohamed Maharem and included several educational and awareness activities, most notably:
- An introductory lecture about the company and skills development delivered by Ms. Maha Saeed.
- A specialized lecture on occupational safety and health presented by Engineer Ahmed Afifi, providing a detailed explanation of preventive measures and the latest systems implemented within the company.
- A detailed presentation on the Utilities Plant and Water Purification Unit given by Engineer Mostafa El-Gadawy.
- A lecture on the production process of ethylene and its derivatives delivered by Chemist Hassan Toto, General Manager of the Training Unit.
- A field tour of the Utilities Unit guided by Engineer Mostafa El-Gadawy.
- A visit to the Ethylene Plant laboratories accompanied by Chemists Mostafa Abdallah and Ahmed Samir.
- A tour of the Polyethylene Plant laboratories, where the students were welcomed by Chemist Mohamed Abdel-Gawad.
The students expressed their great satisfaction with the visit, which provided them with the opportunity to engage directly with specialists and experts, and to closely observe modern technologies and production processes within one of Egypt’s leading industrial institutions in the petrochemical sector. The visit also contributed significantly to broadening their professional horizons and connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in the labor market.
