A Delegation from Alamein International University Visits Antique Charity Association in Kom El-Shoqafa to Provide Health Awareness and Medical Services for Women with Diabetes

As part of Alamein International University’s commitment to supporting student initiatives that create a positive impact on society by applying knowledge in real-life settings, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Essam Elkordi – University President, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Gaber – Vice President for Academic Affairs, a delegation from the university visited the Antique Charity Association for Development in Kom El-Shoqafa, Alexandria, to provide health awareness and medical services for women with diabetes.

The visit was organized in collaboration with the Lions Leaders Club and supervised by Prof. Dr. Khadiga Ismail – Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Yehia Aboushady – Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Khanfour – Director of the Public Health Program.

The initiative aimed to provide specialized health awareness for women with diabetes. The awareness sessions included crucial information to help patients make informed health decisions regarding fasting, understand the benefits and health risks, and manage blood sugar levels during fasting to avoid complications.

The event was supervised by Dr. Mohamed Ezzat Amin – Head of Community Responsibility and Health Promotion Activities at the University, and Dr. Mohamed Helwani – Head of Health Promotion Activities at the Faculty of Dentistry. The event also included participation from assistant lecturers at the Faculty of Dentistry: Anasimon Yani, Mai Haddad, and Noha Radwan.

Dr. Louay Hosni Ragab, a clinic Doctor at Alamein International University, provided individual medical consultations for women with diabetes. He explained the potential risks of fasting for diabetic patients and offered advice on adjusting medication doses and diet to maintain stable blood sugar levels.

Several pharmacy students from the PharmaCore family contributed to the event by offering essential health guidance. The participating students were Ahmed Salah El-Din Khalifa (fifth-year), Youssef Ahmed Mahmoud (fourth-year), Abdelkader Khaled El-Hadary (fourth-year), and Ayat Ibrahim (fourth-year). Additionally, Youssef Mohamed Amin (fourth-year) designed a special awareness booklet for the initiative, which helped in effectively disseminating health information among the attendees.

Fourth-year students from the Faculty of Dentistry conducted dental check-ups for women in the area and provided oral and dental care tips, particularly for diabetic patients who require special care. Among the participating students were Rahma Mahmoud Hassan, Farah Essam, Manar Mahmoud, Nour El-Din Mahmoud, and Basmalah Awad.

Hussein Tarek, a fourth-year student in the Public Health Program, participated by raising awareness about the importance of proper nutrition for diabetic patients, ways to prevent health complications, and the necessity of regular medical follow-ups.

This visit reflects Alamein International University’s dedication to integrating its students into community activities and enhancing health awareness among society members in collaboration with civil society organizations. Such initiatives contribute to improving quality of life and promoting a culture of scientific-based healthcare.
