Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Essam El kordi, President of Alamein International University, Professor Dr. Hesham Gaber, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, and Professor Dr. Yehia Aboushady, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, AIU received Dr. Reem El Gendy, Assistant Professor of Oral Biosciences in the Department of Oral Biology at Leeds Dental School in the United Kingdom, on Wednesday and Thursday, November 22 and 23, 2023, within the framework of the International Strategic Fund grant to the University of Leeds in cooperation with the Faculty of Dentistry at AIU.
The visit program on the first day included an interview with the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Rushdi Zahran, Professor Dr. Essam El kordi, President of AIU, and Professor Dr. Hesham Gaber, Vice President of the University for University Academic Affairs, to discuss aspects of cooperation between AIU and the University of Leeds.
The interview was followed by a tour of the colleges of pharmacy and computer science and engineering, then a tour of the college of dentistry to visit the simulation laboratories and modeling laboratories. Dr. Reem praised the laboratories of the College of Dentistry and their modern equipment that is comparable to the smart fourth-generation universities.
On the second day of the visit, it was discussed what will be implemented through the International Strategic Fund grant to the University of Leeds in cooperation with the Faculty of Dentistry at AIU in terms of student exchange and scientific research. Then, Dr. Reem gave a lecture entitled “Facing the Challenges of Antimicrobial Resistance in Dentistry” for the students of the College of Dentistry. Professor Dr. Khadija Ismail, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at AIU and faculty members at the College, of Dentistry and Pharmacy. A number of students of the College of Dentistry at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport was invited at AIU under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghada Mahmoud – Vice Dean of the Academy’s College of Dentistry. A tour was also made for the students of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport to visit the simulation laboratories at the Faculty of Dentistry. After the lecture, a group of students from the Faculty of Dentistry at AIU presented the results of a questionnaire conducted in the university to determine the awareness of oral and dental health among students at AIU.
