AIU congratulates Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fawzy El-Yazbi for joining the Sigma XI Scientific Research Honor Society


Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Essam Elkordi – President of AIU, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Gaber – Vice President for Academic Affairs, the research team at the Research and Innovation Hub at AIU made a series of distinguished achievements as a result of the work accomplished in the research projects running within the different centers of the hub. And recognition as follows:

  1. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fawzy El-Yazbi – Executive Director of the Scientific Research Academy, received an invitation to join the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. This international scientific society was founded at Cornell University in te United States in 1886, and aims to honor scientific research and distinguished researchers. The membership of the society includes many scientists in renowned American Institutions, as well as many Nobel Laureates. It is noteworthy that membership in Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society is by invitation only. Scientists are invited based on the overall evaluation of the research work and the extent of its contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the researcher’s field.
  2. The American College of Clinical Pharmacists awarded Shams Tariq Othman, who is studying for a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences under the supervision of the research team at AIU, a financial award of 500 US dollars for her joint research with Texas Tech University entitled:
    The Neuroprotective Effects of DPP-4 and SGLT2 Inhibitors in Type 2 Diabetes: Possible Mechanism for Halting Cognitive Deterioration
  3. The American Heart Association also awarded r Nour Zakaria Bakkar, who works within the scientific research team, an award worth $1,000 for her joint research with colleagues in the field of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Neuroscience, entitled:
    A Convolutional Neural Network Model classifies Beat-to-Beat Arterial Pressure Time-Series: Sex Stratification and Cardiovascular Risk Prediction
    Such achievements attest to the keen effort that the AIU community exerts towards excellence in scientific research and innovation. They constitute a part of significant other research outcomes resulting from the pioneering research policies adopted by AIU.
