A strategic partnership agreement was signed today between Alamein International University (AIU), represented by Prof. Dr. Essam El Kordi, President of the University, and the American University in Cairo (AUC), represented by Mr. Francis Ricciardone, President of the University. The agreement was signed at the headquarters of Alamein International University in the new city of Alamein .
This agreement comes within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which stipulates that Egypt becomes a creative and innovative society producing science, technology and knowledge, within a comprehensive system ensuring the developmental value of knowledge and innovation, using their outputs to face challenges and meet national objectives, by 2030.
This agreement aims to furthering cooperation between AUC and AIU at various educational and developmental levels, so as to support the development of sustainable community-university partnerships. The scope of the strategic partnership agreement is to exclusively provide for cooperation on academic and non-academic activities that will strengthen mutual understanding, foster friendly cooperation, and promote sustainable and productive academic cooperation and exchange between faculty, researchers and students of both parties.
These activities include the exchange of academic students for the purpose of research and academic studies, joint research programs, student exchange based on credit-hour transfer system, exchange of scientific and educational literature produced by either or both of the parties, as well as exchange of materials on the most relevant and topical research by researchers at both parties, and the organization of conferences and seminars and symposia of mutual interest to the institutions, soft skills, leadership and entrepreneurship programs, career consulting and services, as well as students’ extra-curricular activities such as unions, clubs, community development engagement, and student support services.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Essam El Kordi welcomed the delegation of the American University and the attendees. He introduced Alamein International University, which was established under a presidential decree, its area, buildings, various programs, and teaching methods. El Kordi also added that the university is keen to establish local and international partnerships with many prestigious universities, as a strategic partnership agreement was signed with Alexandria University at the local level, and at the international level there are partnerships underway to be established.
For his part, Mr. Francis Ricciardone, President of the American University in Cairo, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership and wished it would expand and lead to successful outcome, adding that AUC and Alamein International University share important values, such as improving the quality of education in Egypt and enhancing understanding of the value of diversity. He expressed the readiness of the American University to provide all support to Alamein International University.
Professor Dr. Ashraf Hatem, the AUC advisor and the representative of the Egyptian government at the AUC, said that the protocol aims to enhance cooperation between the two universities in order to qualify students to address international issues. He indicated that Alamein International University is the dream that has become a reality, as it contributes to the development of education in Egypt.
Prof. Dr. Ihab Abdel-Rahman, , Academic Provost of AUC, expressed his happiness at signing this agreement and congratulated Professor Essam El Kordi for the university inauguration and stated that the AUC has many partnerships with the Egyptian side for knowledge transfer and exchange.
The signing ceremony was attended by a top official delegation from the American University in Cairo, Faculty Deans, program managers, faculty members and AIU students.
