Alamein International University (AIU) is opening a job opportunity for the following position:
Library Specialist
The Library Specialist shall be responsible for supporting library operations, assisting users, organizing information resources, the duties, responsibilities, and minimum qualifications are listed below.
Job Information:
- Job Title: Library Specialist
- Job Location: Alamein International University, New Alamein City, Matrouh Governate
- Job Nature: Full-time.
- Working Hours: 9am-4pm, Sunday to Thursday
- Contract Duration: one year contract, renewable based on performance evaluation and university needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing daily library operations and user services.
- Support cataloguing and classification of library materials (print and electronic).
- Assist students and faculty in accessing physical resources.
- Support the management of the Library Management System (LMS/ILS).
- Assist in collection development and inventory processes.
- Provide user orientation sessions and basic information literacy support.
- Support circulation services (borrowing, returns, reservations).
- Prepare periodic reports on library activities and performance indicators.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Library Director or University Administration.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science or equivalent from an accredited university. Graduation date 2020 or newer.
- Age should not be more than 28 years in 1/4/2026.
- Up to 3 years of relevant experience is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of cataloguing standards and classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal Classification) is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital repositories and academic databases is preferred.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
- Applicant must hold Egyptian citizenship.
Assessment Method:
Short listed candidates will be invited for interview and exams.
