Chemistry Laboratory Technician at the Faculty of Science

Job Information:

  • Job Title: Chemistry Laboratory Technician at the Faculty of Science 
  • Job Location: Alamein International University, New Alamein City, Matrouh Governate 
  • Job Nature: Full-time.
  • Working Hours: 9am-4pm, Sunday to Thursday  
  • Contract Duration: one year contract, renewable based on performance evaluation and university needs.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Alamein International University is looking to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Chemistry Laboratory Technician to support the operation of chemistry laboratories and practical teaching activities. The candidate will be responsible for preparing chemicals, solutions, and reagents, supporting students and faculty members during laboratory sessions, and operating and monitoring various laboratory instruments. The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare and organize chemicals, solutions, and reagents required for students’ practical experiments.
  • Prepare laboratories and ensure the availability of required chemicals, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Handle and store chemicals in accordance with laboratory safety and occupational health procedures.
  • Operate and monitor various laboratory instruments, including:
    • Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer
    • Gas Chromatography (GC) and HPLC
    • pH Meters
    • Conductivity Meters
    • Rotary Evaporator
    • Melting Point Apparatus
    • Spectrophotometers
    • Ovens and Muffle Furnaces
    • Hotplates and Water Baths
  • Assist in sample preparation and practical experiments and provide technical support to faculty members and teaching assistants.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment and tools, report malfunctions, and follow up on required maintenance and technical needs.
  • Monitor the inventory of chemicals, laboratory equipment, and supplies and report shortages to ensure uninterrupted laboratory activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in science with a major in Chemistry from an accredited university.
  • Recent graduate, preferably from the 2022–2026 graduating classes.
  • Minimum CGPA of 2.8.
  • Maximum age: 30 years in 1/9/2026
  • Practical experience in chemistry laboratories is preferred, particularly experience in universities or educational institutions.
  • Good knowledge and practical skills in preparing solutions and handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Good knowledge of the operation and basic handling of chemical and analytical laboratory instruments.
  • Excellent command of English (speaking and writing)
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ……etc).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to laboratory safety procedures and working hours.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Applicant must hold Egyptian citizenship.

Assessment Method:

Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews and presentations.
