The Faculty of Pharmacy Al-Alamein International University (AIU) is seeking candidates to fulfill the open positions:

Assistant/ Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis.

We are searching for experienced individuals with proven ability to establish, develop, and teach pharmaceutical analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis courses to undergraduate pharmacy students, tailored to national and international curricular standards, as well as contribute to the development and execution of laboratory-based education and research programs.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop a vibrant, internal or externally funded research program with a focus on pharmaceutical analysis, drug bioanalysis, method development and validation, pharmaceutical quality control, and advanced instrumental techniques including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and HPLC.

The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to graduate training and will eventually be required to develop and contribute to a multi-disciplinary graduate studies program offering Master and PhD degrees in pharmaceutical analysis and related scientific fields.

We especially encourage applications from candidates with both academic and applied laboratory research backgrounds capable of enriching the undergraduate and postgraduate student learning and research experience.

Job Information

  • Job Title:   Assistant/ Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis
  • Job Location: Alamein International University, New Alamein City, Matrouh Governate 
  • Job Nature: Full Time
  • Working Hours: 9am-4pm, 5 days a week  
  • Contract Duration: one year contract, renewable based on performance evaluation and university needs.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching 12-15 hours per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters and 3-5 hours in the Summer semester, including all related preparation, examination, and accreditation work. 
  • Preparing files for quality and accreditation
  • Hold office hours (face-to-face and/or online) to support students.
  • Managing the course LMS contents.
  • Supervise field training for undergraduate students.
  • Prepare research proposals, attract research funding, and conduct research to establish a research group in the area of expertise. A reduce course load can be given in case of funding is secured.
  • Promote the Innovation and Entrepreneurship mission of the University.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the local and national community.
  • Contribute to the Marketing plan of the University.
  • Submit a yearly report with all his/her teaching, research, and community service achievements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the upper administration.  

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university.
  • Applicants must have a PhD degree (fulfill criteria of Supreme Council of Universities) in Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry or related specialization and post-doctoral or academic research experience, with a demonstrated ability to conduct original and innovative pharmaceutical research.
  • The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in chromatographic and instrumental techniques including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and HPLC, with practical experience in analytical method development, validation, stability studies, impurity profiling, and pharmaceutical quality control.
  • Strong evidence of excellence in different teaching techniques including didactic lectures, blended learning, and interactive instructional strategies, as well as being well-versed in developing course content and assessment methods on learning management systems.
  • Experience in research laboratory management and advanced instrumentation operation is preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum development and content mapping to professional competencies is preferred.
  • Experience in international academic collaboration and multidisciplinary research is preferred.
  • Outstanding portfolio that includes other experiences related to university functions and activities that may contribute to AIU’s success is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an interest in fostering collaboration with faculty members in the university and elsewhere, are considered strong assets.
  • Excellent English language command (writing and speaking).
  • Applicant must hold Egyptian citizenship.
