AIU Receives a Delegation of Students from Virginia Tech in a Scientific Visit to Strengthen Academic Cooperation

Professor Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, and Professor Hesham Gaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs, received a delegation of students from Virginia Tech, USA, from the Department of Computer Science, accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Seyam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech. The meeting was also attended by Professor Mustafa Elnainay, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening academic cooperation and student exchange between the two universities.

During the meeting, Professor Essam Elkordi welcomed the visiting delegation, emphasizing Alamein International University’s commitment to expanding cooperation with leading international universities and providing outstanding educational and training opportunities for its students through joint programs and courses, which contribute to developing their academic and practical skills.

The delegation also met with students from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Alamein International University, with the participation of several students from the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. A number of joint student projects are being implemented in the fields of healthcare and environmental applications, enabling the exchange of academic and research expertise among students of the participating universities and enhancing teamwork and innovation skills in modern technology fields. These projects are jointly supervised by Dr. Mohamed Seyam from Virginia Tech and Dr. Abdallah Hassan from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Alamein International University.

The delegation’s visit will continue throughout the week and will include a joint workshop involving students from the participating universities. During the workshop, several applied projects will be carried out using artificial intelligence and data analytics in the fields of healthcare and environmental applications. Students will work in joint teams to develop innovative technological solutions to challenges related to these fields.

This visit takes place within the framework of a joint course taught collaboratively by Alamein International University and Virginia Tech. The course aims to strengthen scientific cooperation and facilitate the exchange of academic expertise among students, contributing to the preparation of graduates capable of competing in both local and international job markets, and reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting a modern educational environment based on innovation and international collaboration.
