AIU Organizes an Educational Visit to Jet Solar Factory in Cairo to Enhance Engineering Students’ Skills in Renewable Energy

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, and Professor Dr. Hesham Gaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and within the framework of the University’s support for Egypt Vision 2030, which places human development and the advancement of education among its top priorities, the Faculty of Engineering organized a scientific field visit for students of the Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy programs on Thursday, 16/04/2026, to the Jet Solar solar cell factory in Cairo.

The visit was led by Professor Dr. Remon Iskander, Academic Programs Director at the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Salem Badawy, Programs Director at the Faculty of Advanced Basic Sciences, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed El Naqeeb. The visit was organized as part of the Renewable Energy Sources course, with the aim of linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications and developing students’ skills in the field of solar energy.

The visit included a guided tour inside the factory, during which students explored the different types of solar cells and learned about their operating principles. They were also introduced to the stages of solar panel manufacturing, beginning with component assembly, passing through the various production processes, and concluding with testing and quality assurance procedures in accordance with the latest international standards.

Students were also given the opportunity to engage directly with the factory’s engineers and technicians, which enriched their practical experience and enhanced their understanding of the labor market and its requirements.

The students were welcomed by:

Eng. Mahmoud Mekawy, Operation Manager

Eng. Khaled Mostafa, Energy Solution Engineer

Eng. Karim Hany, Training Coordinator

This visit reflects Alamein International University’s commitment to providing an integrated educational experience that combines academic study with hands-on training, contributing to the preparation of qualified engineering professionals capable of keeping pace with the rapid developments in the fields of new and renewable energy.

The visit also helped raise students’ awareness of energy issues at both the international and local levels, as they learned about global trends toward clean energy transition, reducing carbon emissions, and the importance of expanding renewable energy projects to achieve sustainability.

At the local level, students gained a deeper understanding of Egypt’s energy strategy, which aims to diversify energy sources and increase the contribution of renewable energy to the national energy mix, in support of sustainable development plans and in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030.

At the conclusion of the visit, the University administration extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the factory management and all its staff for their warm welcome and fruitful cooperation, which ensured the maximum possible benefit for the students and supported their academic and professional journey.
