Alamein International University (AIU) hosted yesterday, Sunday, the joint meeting of the Councils of Private and National Universities, chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary-General of the Council of National Universities; Prof. Dr. Ehab Hassanein, Secretary-General of the Council of Private Universities; as well as members of both councils. The meeting was held at the Alamein International University campus in New Alamein City.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, for hosting the joint meeting of the Councils of Private and National Universities. He emphasized the important role played by private and national universities in supporting Egypt’s higher education system and providing advanced educational pathways aligned with development requirements and the needs of the labor market.

The meeting addressed a number of topics related to the development of the educational system at private and national universities, as well as preparations for the new academic year 2026/2027. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of the educational process and further improve the academic services provided to students.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Joint Council of Private and National Universities announced the minimum admission thresholds for enrollment in the faculties of private and national universities for the 2026/2027 academic year. The thresholds apply to students holding the General Secondary Education Certificate or equivalent Arab and foreign certificates, in accordance with the minimum thresholds approved by the Council.

Hosting this meeting at Alamein International University reaffirms its prominent position and active role within Egypt’s higher education system, as well as its commitment to supporting the state’s efforts to advance university education and strengthen integration among higher education institutions.
