The Master of Science in Computer Engineering strives to create a stimulating academic environment that promotes excellence in teaching and research to prepare future qualified leaders who support the development of the local, regional, and global communities.
Program Educational Objectives
Graduates of the MSc. program in Computer Engineering will be prepared to:
  • Succeed as professionals in different areas of CSE

The Field of Computer Engineering focuses on the following strategic goals to fulfil its mission:

  • Continual Improvement: The program uses regularly documented processes for assessing and evaluating the extent to which the student outcomes are being attained. Results of these evaluations are systematically utilized as input for the program’s continuous improvement actions.
  • Visibility: Through internal and external communications, we promote the talent, research, scholarship, and leadership of our students and faculty members beyond the university and helps to drive the national landscape for improving the quality of graduate programs.

A. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, or equivalent certificate accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 (B-) or higher. Subject to the approval of the Faculty Council and the endorsement of the Council of Academic Affairs, students with a lower GPA may be admitted conditionally to study a number of qualifying courses at the 400 level, up to a maximum of 18 credit hours within at most one year. Their registration in the program will be accepted after passing the qualifying courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B). These hours are not counted towards the credit hours required for the degree and are not included in the degree’s cumulative GPA calculation.

B. An admission test may be conducted to determine the number of admitted students and assess their possession of the necessary scientific and academic background for the program. If the test is not passed, the student may be admitted conditionally to study a number of qualifying courses at the 400 level, up to a maximum of 18 credit hours within at most one year. Their registration in the program will be accepted after passing the qualifying courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B). These hours are not counted towards the credit hours required for the degree and are not included in the degree’s cumulative GPA calculation.

C. Applicants must provide proof of passing the international TOEFL English language exam with a minimum score of 450 for Master’s programs and 500 for Doctorate programs (or an  equivalent internationally recognized English language exam). This must be submitted before registration or within one year from the registration date, otherwise their enrolment will be cancelled.

D. Graduates of Alamein International University and students from universities where the medium of instruction is English are exempted from the language proficiency test.

A graduate of the Master of Science in Engineering program must be able to:

  • Master the application of the methodologies of scientific research and use its various tools.
  • Apply the analytical approach and utilize it within the area of specialization.
  • Apply specialized knowledge and integrate it with relevant knowledge in professional practice.
  • Demonstrate awareness of current problems and modern visions in specialization.
  • Identify professional problems and find solutions for them.
  • Master an appropriate range of specialized professional skills and use appropriate technological means to serve their professional practice.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate the ability to lead work teams.
  • Make decisions in various professional contexts.
  • Employ available resources to achieve sustainable development.
  • Demonstrate awareness of their role in community development and environmental preservation in light of global and regional changes.
  • Act in a manner that reflects a commitment to integrity, credibility, and professional ethics.
  • Develop themselves academically and professionally and be capable of continuous learning.
  • Total Credits: Completion of 36 credit hours.
  • Structure:
    • 12 Core Credits: Focused on foundational, software, and analytic courses.
    • 12 Elective Credits: Chosen based on the student’s selected track.
    • 12 Thesis Credits: Completion and public defense of an original academic research thesis.
  • Duration: Minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters (with possible extensions)
